Don’t worry!

Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It was never God’s plan for us to worry. It was always His plan that we should look to Him as our source and our help in time of need. This is why worry and anxiety do so much damage to our physical bodies and our mental health. We were not designed for and were never meant to cope with worry and anxiety!

Luke 12:22-34
Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Worry and anxiety are tactics of the devil to keep you focused on your problems rather than looking to God who is the solution. When you are thinking only on the problems it is hard to remember the promises of God and to believe them. Since all the promises of God are received by faith, this strategy has been used to good effect to neutralise the power of God in many believer’s lives!

You must make a decision to trust God and His promises.  Don’t be led by your feelings. Your feelings are great to help you experience life but they are bad at guiding you to truth. You may not feel like trusting God but you can still choose to do so.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Make sure your focus is on God, make sure you are getting His Word into your heart.  Don’t take advice from unbelievers or “world-focused” Christians, they will not encourage you to look to God the life giver, they will only give worldly wisdom that can’t truly deliver you!

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

1 Corinthians 3:18-20
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

As you trust God and believe and plant His promises deep in your heart, you will change the way you think about things. The devil will always bring thoughts your way, to try make you doubt God’s goodness and distrust His promises. Resist the devils plans and thoughts and send him running.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Focus on God, praise Him always, in all situations and His peace will guard your heart and mind, and His power will deliver you.
